Alstom Selected for Washington State Smart Grid Project
The Snohomish County Public Utility District (Snohomish PUD) in Washington State has selected Alstom Grid to integrate its e-terradistribution 1 for Distribution Management Systems (DMS) along with their existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management System (EMS) to provide full-scale deployment of smart distribution automation technologies and integration of green energy sources into the United States grid.
Snohomish PUD, the second largest publicly-owned utility in Washington and 12th in the United States, provides electricity to over 320,000 customers in the Pacific Northwest. The utility has used a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to help finance a major smart grid technology upgrade to create a stronger, more efficient and reliable electrical system.
Alstom’s e-terradistribution solution enhances fault location, isolation and service restoration, while enabling the adoption of green energy sources, community energy storage. and plug-in electric vehicles.
