Pattern Energy signs power sale agreement for 115MW wind farm in Chile
Pattern Energy has entered into a 20-year renewable power sale and energy services agreements with mining company Minera Los Pelambres for its El Arrayan wind energy project in Chile.
The 115MW power project, located about 400km north of Santiago on the coast of Chile, is being developed by Pattern Energy and is expected to begin commercial operation in 2013.
The facility will include Siemens' 2.3MW wind turbines and has secured all land leases required for the turbines and power line.
Once completed, the project will generate enough clean energy to power up to 45,000 local homes each year.
Antofagasta Minerals, the mining division of Minera Los Pelambres' parent company Antofagasta, has an option to acquire a 30% stake in the project.
