Time Warner Enters Home Energy Management Business
The line between home entertainment, television, and smart energy just got a little blurrier. Time Warner Cable (TWC), the second largest MSO in the United States, is partnering with iControl Networks to offer a smart home management system. IntelligentHome, powered by iControl Networks’ OpenHome software platform, provides customers with connected home management services, including security, with remote home video viewing and window and door sensors, as well as wireless management of heating, A/C, and lighting. The new service is already available in upstate New York and Southern California.
IntelligentHome’s featured enables consumer to easily manage security and comfort from an in-home touch screen, secure website, or a free mobile app; customize their systems; access to TWC’s Emergency Response Center; use in-home cameras to see what’s happening when they are away; access apps for weather, news, and photos using their touchscreen; use smart devices to control temperature and lighting; and utilize a suite of security options including door/window sensors, motion detectors, and smoke detectors.
