Spencer Ogden launches new office in Singapore in APAC expansion
The bold move, which involves taking on 12,000 square foot of prime office space in Raffles Place and doubling the current headcount places Spencer Ogden at the forefront of growth in the region, and will enable us to retain a strong position as the oil industry becomes an increasingly unsettled one.
Our CEO, David Spencer-Percival says, “We have made a major investment in Singapore. It is our regional headquarters and a crucial place for us to be. This expansion reflects our commitment to Asia and our confidence in the recovery and long-term performance of the energy markets.”
He added, “In the short term we expect to see some consolidation in the oil and gas space, which is likely to affect smaller players in the industry and related services. While oil and gas will remain a key focus, we will use this time to further diversify into higher performing areas such as renewables and marine. I believe the challenging business environment will create opportunities for us in terms of market share and talent attraction.”
A key driver behind our expansion in Singapore is our need to hire the best recruiters in the region. Our secret weapons for attracting this talent are our Academies, where we provide a tailored training ground for our employees, and our trademark office, which is widely regarded as one of the coolest in the central business district. The new space, which occupies one of the top floors in One Raffles Place, is no exception. It is currently the largest and most impressive of Spencer Ogden’s 15 international offices.
Over SGD 1 million has been invested in the signature space, which features Astro Turf flooring, an American-style diner and giant knight’s tables. It will home more than 120 specialist consultants who have table-tennis, foosball, basketball hoops, crazy golf, bicycles and even rickshaws to keep them energised while they work.
David Spencer-Percival said, “We are committed to creating offices that encourage open communication and team work, and as a result we have a highly collaborative and productive workforce. As a result of the expansion we will be hiring 60 new employees, many of whom will be top-tier Singaporean graduates. SGD 2.5 million has been allocated to graduate employment. This investment includes enrolling them on an intensive three month training program with the Spencer Ogden Academy.
