Amec Foster Wheeler (AFW) has won a £35m contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

AFW is expected to supply research and technology services for the MoD’s Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme (NNPP).

The five-year deal will cover critical areas of capability such as materials performance, materials science, modelling, code development, thermal hydraulics and non-destructive testing and examination.

Defence minister Harriett Baldwin comments, "Long-term investment in innovative research and technology like this is absolutely essential to ensuring that Britain's nuclear programme remains cutting-edge."
