Facebook buys Nebraskan wind power

Facebook has announced its plans to buy electricity from Tradewind Energy’s 320MW Rattlesnake Creek project. 

The $308 million project Is currently under development in Nebraska. Once completed, the electricity will be used for the social media giant’s Papillion data centre. 

Facebook is one of several household-name high-tech firms buying wind power for their data centers.

According to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly, Facebook is already buying wind power from two wind projects, in Iowa and Texas.
