Mitsubishi motors plans to channel more than $5.43 billion into capital spending and R&D over the next three year.

The automotive giant is aiming to spend 5% of annual sales on equipment and the same proportion on research and development, likely totaling more than 200 billion yen a year.

In China, Mitsubishi Motors will spend around 10 billion yen to build a new plant that has the capacity to produce 150,000 engines yearly, slated to begin operations in 2018.
