The construction of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is currently underway with recent reports indicating the construction bill will surpass $13 billion.

“Soon after the Organising Committee launch, Tokyo 2020 started the whole venue master plan review from the perspective of legacy, impact to the citizens of Tokyo, and venue maintenance cost,” said Masa Takaya of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Organising Committee plans to unveil costs by year’s end, when Japanese citizens will be asking for a lower bottom line.

“Sustainability as one of the key pillars, key themes of the Olympic agenda 2020,” added Takaya.
