Germany’s largest offshore wind farm project receives greenlight

EnBW has confirmed it will be constructing a 497 MW offshore wind farm in Europe’s North Sea


Canadian energy infrastructure group Enbridge has reportedly acquired a 49.9 per cent stake in the €1.8bn project and the two companies are expected to jointly build the wind farm, while EnBW will oversee its operation and maintenance.

The42 square km wind farm represents Germany's largest offshore wind project to date and will provide power close 560,000 households.

Construction work is scheduled to start in early 2018.
