ExxonMobil, Savic select site for new petrochemicals plant in Texas

ExxonMobil and Sabic have selected a multi-billion dollar complex in San Patricio County that will be able to produce 1.8 million tonnes of ethylene per year. 

This project is one of 11 ventures ExxonMobil is undertaking over the next 10 years as part of its $20 billion “growing the Gulf” campaign.

The new plant is expect to create thousands of jobs during the construction phase, including 600 full-time jobs and 3,500 indirect jobs during operations. 

Neil Chapman, president of ExxonMobil Chemical Company, comments: “This decision represents a significant milestone for both the local community and the state of Texas.
