Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky has announced it will invest $1.33 billion at its Georgetown plant to further improve its manufacturing flexibility.

The company says the investment will help retain the 8,200 jobs at the plant that manufactures the Camry and 25 per cent of all Toyota vehicles produced in North America.

TMMK President Wil James comments: “[The investment] will allow us to create a more flexible production environment which will position our plant to compete globally for new models, build ever better care for our customers now and enable us to respond quicker and more capably to market demands down the road.”

Toyota also announced it will invest $10 billion in its North American operations over the next five years. This week’s announcement was the first in that plan.
