The Finance Committee of Hong Kong Legislative Council has approved the expansion of the Disneyland amusement park, with an estimated worth of $1.4 billion.

The government has approved to co-finance the project alongside the Walt Disney company.

“I am delighted that the finance committee approved the expansion plan,” commerce minister Greg So Kam-leung said. “We have gone through a lot of analysis. We have also pushed very hard in the negotiation. We believe that this package is really the best package that we can achieve.”

The expansion project is expected to start next year and will feature themed zones based on the movie, Frozen, and Marvel superhero films.
