Jaguar Land Rover has announced it is searching for 5,000 new employees in an effort to bolster its UK workforce despite concerns about the implications of Brexit.

The company stated it is looking for "the next generation of world-class electronics and software engineering talent" through the creation of 1,000 new roles.

JLR currently employs 40,000 people worldwide and has publicly said it will continue hiring over the next year as it shifts its focus more towards electric vehicle technology.

"As the automotive industry transforms over the next decade, fuelled by software innovation, we have to attract the best talent and that requires a radical rethink of how we recruit,” said Alex Heslop, JLR's head of electrical engineering.

"Here we've found an engaging way to recruit a diverse talent pool in software systems, cyber systems, app development and graphics performance. It will be the first of its kind."
