Pakistan has launched its fifth nuclear power station in an effort to meet the growing energy needs of the nation.

“The new plant will generate 340 megawatt (MW) of electricity,” said Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the inauguration ceremony.

“The Chashma nuclear power projects units C-1, C-2 and C-3 have been successfully contributing to the national grid with an excellent performance since 2000, 2011 and 2016 respectively,” added Abbasi.

This is one of many projects that reinforces Pakistan’s commitment towards achieving the goal of adding 8,800MW of nuclear energy to the national grid by 2030.
