China launches floating solar farm on top of abandoned coal mine

Sungrow Power Supply has built a floating solar farm on a lake in China, that covers 100 square miles, consisting of 120,000 solar panels.


According to the South China Morning Post, the power plant is currently the world's largest floating solar project.

The 40MW power plant will help generate power for 15,000 households. 

The Chinese government has vowed to spend at least $360 billion on green energy projects that will create 13 million renewable energy jobs by 2020.
