Shell set to commence North Sea oil drilling project

Shell has announced that it will start drilling in the North Sea’s Penguin oil field. The Penguin oil field is the corporation’s first new manned project in the North Sea in three decades. 

The project is expected the generate 300 to 400 jobs, during various stages of the new development.


“Shell has had a strong presence in this part of the northern North Sea for more than forty years,” said Steve Phimister, Shell's vice president for upstream in the UK and Ireland.


“Having reshaped our portfolio over the last 12 months, we now plan to grow our North Sea production through our core production assets.”
