GE Power partners with Alstom to build 1GW coal plant in Poland
GE Power and Alstom Power Systems have won a tender to build a 1GW ultra-supercritical (USC) Ostroleka C coal energy plant in Poland.
The 1,000 megawatt power plant is expected to open in 2023 and generate enough power to provide electricity to 300,000 homes.
GE Europe CEO Peter Stracar comments: “Our role, at GE, is to support our customers and countries like Poland to choose and implement the energy systems, which best meets their needs and targets in terms of energy security, costs and sustainability.
“GE has the broadest portfolio of technology to help Poland use its natural resources in the most efficient way and support the energy transition in Europe.”
According to a company statement, GE Power will be responsible for designing, manufacturing and delivering its USC technology components.
With the help of new technologies, the Polish coal power plant will be able to meet EU emissions requirements.
