Russia begins building Turkey’s first nuclear power plant

Rosatom has begun construction of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant.

Akkuyu nuclear power plant is located on the south coast of Turkey and will consist of four power units, having a combined capacity of 4,800MW. 

The company has confirmed that the first unit is scheduled to be completed by 2023, with the other three units set to be operational by 2025.
