Qatar Petroleum encourages bids for new petrochemicals facility

Qatar Petroleum (QP) has announced it is inviting a range of international firms to bid to develop and operate a new petrochemicals complex at Ras Laffan Industrial City.


The new facility will include an ethane cracker with a combined capacity of more than 1.6 million tonnes per year of ethylene, making it the largest in the Middle East, according to the company.

Recently, Saudi Aramco and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), have also unveiled significant plans to grow their petrochemicals portfolios.
