Reaching an anniversary at work is always a cause for celebration at Spencer Ogden. In fact, we celebrate countless work anniversaries each month!

After blowing out all the candles, we interviewed five inspirational employees across the globe to see how their jobs have evolved over time, and their proudest achievements since joining SO.

Do you remember your first day at SO?
Yes! I remember having first day nerves along with the feeling of excitement about my first "big girl job" after graduating from college. I was also 45 minutes early for fear of being late on my first day!

How has your job changed over the last year?
The past year has been quite the ride at SO! I have worked with several different teams, including our Houston Built Environment team during my first three months with the business (where I achieved my first placement). Our Skilled Trades/Craft team (where I achieved one placement), where I had the opportunity to work with a high profile client under Chandler Harting guidance. At the end of October 2018, I officially made the decision to transfer to our Denver, Colorado office where I am now working with our Renewables team!

What have been your biggest accomplishments since joining SO?
I was very proud that I achieved my first permanent placement within two and a half months at SO. I am also SO's first national transfer within America!

What does the future at SO hold for you?
I know that I have been given an exciting opportunity in Denver to work on the Renewables team. This is going to be a great adventure and a new chapter with SO - I can't wait to see the successes that follow!

Do you remember your first day at SO?
My first day at SO met all of my expectations and was exactly what I had imagined.

I still remember the energy I felt from the sales floor. Everyone was on their phone and walking around the office on the grass where I was immediately introduced to my team - they were all very welcoming!

How has your job changed over the years?
On Day one, I started as a consultant focusing on IT technical development, where I was working closely with the team and leveraging their clients. A couple of months later, I started building up my own client pool and discovered the importance of digital transformation for both existing and new clients, which eventually led to my current focus and specialty.

I am now in a leadership position and I am now mentoring a team of three. At the same time, I’m still taking a hands-on approach to recruiting, to ensure we are ahead of our competitors, while identifying new trends for business development and expansion.

What have been your biggest accomplishments since joining SO?
My biggest accomplishment would be winning the award of Best Team Player in 2017, along with my participation in the Corporate Values Ambassador programme in 2018.

What does the future at SO hold for you?
SO promotes organic internal growth and this is demonstrated by most of our business leaders who started as graduates and have since progressed into senior managerial positions. I aspire to follow in their footsteps and become part of the management team to drive the business direction and the culture for our Hong Kong office.

Do you remember your first day at SO?
I do remember being excited and wanting to get stuck into the role! During that time, my university overdraft in my bank account looking pretty terrifying!

How has your job changed over the years?
The fundamentals have remained the same, but I now have more responsibilities with regards to account management and mentoring. I'm more of a focal point within the team now, where the experience I've gained over the three years has proven to be quite valuable to my junior colleagues.

What have been your biggest accomplishments since joining SO?

There's been a few accomplishments that I'm particularly proud of since joining SO, these include:
Grad of the Year 2016,
3rd Top Biller 2017
2nd Top Biller 2018

I’ve also hit the EMEA Incentive hat-trick over the past three years – where I’ve traveled to Miami, Vegas and now Cancun which will be next year!

What does the future at SO hold for you?
My goal is to become EMEA top biller.  Other than this, I'll continue to pass on my 'words of wisdom' to the new-gen joining our business - and help grow a new team within Renewables!

Do you remember your first day at SO?
Too well! I remember coming into the office in my new suit – which was bright red! I found the buzz on the sales floor as a motivating force and I couldn’t wait to get to work.

How has your job changed over the years?
Over the last 18 months I've been promoted from Senior Consultant to Team Leader. It's great to take everything I have learnt from people past and present, and pass it down to my team and other people on the sales floor.

What have been your biggest accomplishments since joining SO?
On an individual level, I'm extremely proud of winning the Top Biller award for EMEA this year, along with a spot on the Cancun incentive trip.

What does the future at SO hold for you?
I've planned it all out in my head! I am hoping to grow this team over 2019 to be the strongest NFI per head unit in London and to be promoted to Manager for the downstream business by the end of 2019. From there...who knows! It wouldn't say no to being on the board.

Do you remember your first day at SO?

I do! We used to do a morning roundup every morning where they'd play a song, and everyone would stand a clap. I wasn't expecting it at all, so it took me by surprise.

How has your job changed over the years?
It's changed quite a lot over the years. I started on Perm as a Team Leader, then Contract, before moving into higher leadership positions. It's changed in good ways as I've taken on more responsibility and learned a lot. That's why I was excited to join SO and be part of the journey of growth with an ambitious young company.

What have been your biggest accomplishments since joining SO?
The career growth and what I've learned in the past five years that I consider my biggest accomplishment. I've gone from running teams of 2-4 to now managing a team of over 35 people. Over the past four years, I've been more focused on working with our consultants and helping them to be successful and become consistent performers. I now get a lot more satisfaction out of seeing these people grow and become market experts who have the ability to win new business and become top performers.

What does the future at SO hold for you?
I'm still as excited now by the opportunity at SO as the day I joined (if not more). We've got an amazing opportunity in Houston and an extremely talented group of people. I really believe 2019 is going to be a huge year for us! The immediate future is continuing on the journey, having fun and supporting the Houston operation fulfill it's potential and maximise the opportunity in front of us.
