Today, the UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced his ‘Ten Point Plan’ which outlines the path for the country's Green Industrial Revolution.

Much of the focus of the ten-point plan will be aimed at the North of England, Midlands, Scotland and Wales. The plan will allow for £12bn government investment, which should create and support 250,000 jobs and encourage three times as much private sector investment by 2030.

Boris Johnson has set out a plan that intends for the UK to become the world’s number one center for green technology and finance, aiming to create the foundations for years of economic growth.

The Prime Minister announced plans around clean energy, transport, nature and innovative technologies which will allow the UK to lead the way globally and eradicate its contribution to climate change by 2050.

Each one of the ten-points is built around the UK’s strengths:

1 - Offshore wind:The UK intends to produce enough offshore wind to power every home by 2030. This new target will quadruple how much offshore wind power the UK produce to 40GW and support up to 60,000 green jobs.

2 - Hydrogen:Turning water into energy with £500m of investment and has a 2030 target of having the first town heated entirely by hydrogen.

3 - Nuclear:Bringing forward new nuclear power plans, from large scale to small, developing the next generation of modular reactors and support up to 10,000 jobs.

4 - Electric vehicles:The UK seeks to abolish the sale of new cars powered by petrol and diesel beyond 2030, with only Norway committing to introduce the ban sooner. The ban can happen earlier due to the £2.8bn investment in electric vehicles, supporting our world-class car manufacturing bases and transforming our infrastructure to better support electric vehicles.

5 - Public transport and cycling:Plans to build a cleaner public transport network, invest in zero-emission public transport for the future and create hundreds of new cycle lanes, to encourage cycling as a method of travel.

6 - Jet Zero and greener maritime:Supporting difficult-to- decarbonise industries with their plans to become greener through research projects for zero-emission planes and ships.

7 - Homes and public buildings:Investing £1bn next year to make homes schools and hospitals greener, warmer and more energy efficient. The government has brought forward their target, to 2023, by which new homes will need to be warmed without using gas heating. Through this investment they intend to create 50,000 jobs by 2030.

8 - Carbon Capture:The UK seek to becoming a world-leader in carbon capture and storage. The government intend to invest £1bn to support the technology to capture and storage of harmful emissions away from the atmosphere. The target is to remove 10MT of carbon dioxide by 2030.

9 - Nature:To protect and restore our natural environment by planting 30,000 hectares of trees eve year and rewilding 30,000 football pitches’ worth of countryside, whilst creating and supporting thousands of jobs.

10 - Innovation and finance:The £1bn energy innovation fund intends to help develop the cutting-edge technologies needed to reach all these outlined energy targets and support in making the City of London the world’s green finance centre.
