One of my clients is looking for a new geotechnical project manager to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. This project manager will be working on a number of projects in Scotland, as well as the North of England and the Midlands.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the decided-upon budget, timeline, and scope, and leading a team in order to achieve this. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing project teams to achieve necessary targets, through provision of operational, strategic and contractual direction
  • Coaching and supporting other project team members with assigned tasks
  • Problem solving and innovative thinking whilst reviewing activity plans
  • Effective communicating with relevant stakeholders and team members on project progress
  • Acquiring, preparing and reviewing tenders, with a focus on planning, methodology and design
  • Setting an example and promotion of strong HSQE
  • This role involves frequent travel to various sites under the project manager's remit

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in site-based geotechnical engineering in some (or all) of the following: piling, soil nailing, ground anchoring, slope stabilisation and grouting)
  • Previous experience in the planning and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Work-winning/tendering mentality, with loose estimating abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and client skills
