Overview:
As a Senior Protection & Control Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing protection and control engineering activities for high voltage substation and transmission projects. You will utilize your knowledge of protective relaying and control systems to contribute to EPC substation and transmission projects.
Responsibilities:
• Perform analysis and design of Protection Systems for HV substation/ and FACTS • Develop substation relaying & metering diagrams (i.e. Single line/A.C./D.C. schematic diagrams) • Develop the substation communication and network diagram • Prepare specification & Bill of Material for Protection/Control/Metering/RTU/ Communication Panels • Develop Protection and Control Panel layouts. • Develop Protection and Control Panel wiring diagrams. • Develop Cable Schedule for Substation. • Perform Factory Acceptance Test for Protection and Control Panels. • Perform reviews of work performed by others • Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements • Perform relay coordination study and develop the relay settings file • Coordinate with supplier and contractors • Flexibility to travel locally and internationally to customer meetings and project sites, with an approximate travel of 25%.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis from an ABET-accredited engineering program; Master's degree preferred. • 8 years or more of experience with a focus on protection/control/communications design for high voltage substations. • Experience in Communication Network Technologies • Experience in Communication protocols such as IEC61850, DNP, Modbus, … • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for relay calculations. • Knowledge on ANSI standards, IEC standards knowledge is a plus. • Experience with various vendor protective relay equipment typically used in substation. protection, including SEL, Siemens, GE. • Familiarity with Auto-CAD or Micro-Station. • Good communication skills. • Professional Engineering license is preferred. • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. As an I&C engineer, work with a team of I&C engineers and designers, and other disciplines, to perform detail engineering, including front-end planning work, develop I&C quantities and cost estimation, conduct conceptual studies, perform technical quality reviews, attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and support construction & commissioning activities . Work under a direct supervision of an I&C lead or work independently on smaller projects or standalone activities. They will work as part of a leading independent solar and storage development platform in the UK & Ireland, delivering solar and storage projects from origination through the development process.
