I have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to take up the role of Senior Grid Engineer for a leading global renewable energy developer. You will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of the grid connection package for Wind, Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects throughout their lifecycle.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful delivery of the grid connection package for Onshore Wind, Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects through their lifecycle;
  • Provide technical support to project development and delivery teams relating to grid connection and electrical design.
  • Support the development and construction teams with project design, procurement, feasibility assessments and in any other way relevant to grid connections;
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks, advise the business on an ongoing basis about existing and anticipated grid – related liabilities and costs.
  • Manage the delivery of works being undertaken by electrical and grid connection contractors;
  • Act as the company’s interface with network companies (DNOs, TOs and the SO), engage as required to achieve successful outcomes;
  • Work with Grid Connection Manager to develop and implement systems and process relevant to optimal delivery of grid services.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience delivering distribution and / or transmission grid connections for generation or demand projects
  • A good understanding of grid connection process, regulations and policy;
  • Experience of working with network companies;
  • Expert understanding of power systems and ability to undertake / review complex power system studies

Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceThe successful candidate must have: Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in large scale generation/energy sector with experience of working on electrical systems between MV and 400 kV . Strong contract management experience with an excellent understanding of Tendering, Tender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning assistance and oversight associated with substations and / or electrical works associated with large scale renewable generation projects. Working knowledge of and experience in the implementation of Engineering, Procurement & execution of EPC style contracts.A proven track record in delivering substations and / or electrical works associated with large scale generation projects.Experience of dealing with commercial aspects during project delivery.Experience in contract management with strong contract negotiation skills.Full drivers’ licence valid for use in Republic of Ireland.Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
