As part of my clients ongoing development, they are now seeking to complement their growing Technology Services team with experienced Senior and Principal Power Systems Engineers. This role is highly important in ensuring the business continues to thrive and grow, always with a view to their passionate aspiration of supporting the world’s transition to net zero. The Technology team operates across a broad range of projects from single wind turbine installations and onsite generation to multi-GW offshore generation, grid and private wire projects. You will liaise with power systems and engineering design teams and work closely with the Head of Development, Project Management and the Director of Technology Services, to refresh and enhance systems and practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your role will focus primarily on:
- Engaging with the electricity transmission, distribution companies and the Electricity System Operator in the UK.
- Understanding of the UK Grid Code and specifically application of the requirements to generation projects.
- Practical experience conducting detailed power system studies including load flow, short circuit analysis, fault ride through and EMT using industry standard software solutions
- Sharing your knowledge and experience with the team to further develop the team’s expertise
- Management and mentoring of graduates/consultants.
- Understanding, communicating, and analysing energy regulatory framework and keeping abreast of changes and impacts to clients.

- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g., Electrical or Mechanical engineering) or equivalent professional experience.

The client is a renewable energy IPP company with fully integrated development capabilities and it's head office in London. The main focus is developing renewable energy power plants across the United Kingdom with the help of their highly experienced management team and partners to allow them to deliver quality, bankable renewable power assets. Their focus is on the development of large-scale solar, wind and hybrid energy storage projects. Role: In this role you will be working closely alongside the grid manager, and if required the key management team members and land acquisition team. Supporting the Grid team in identifying and securing grid capacity both on the distribution level and national transmission level from 11kV up to 400kV network for its large-scale solar, wind and BESS projects. The ideal candidate should possess significant experience in both stability and steady-state as they relate to power systems.Responsibilities:· Perform comprehensive stability analysis of power systems, including transient stability, voltage stability, and small signal stability assessments.· Conduct steady-state analysis, load flow studies, and power flow simulations to evaluate the performance of the power system under various operating conditions.· Identify potential stability and steady-state issues and provide recommendations for system improvements, control strategies, and operational enhancements.· Collaborate with the planning and operations teams to assess the impact of system changes, such as generation additions, load variations, and network expansions on stability and steady-state performance.· Utilize advanced stability and steady-state analysis software and tools to model and simulate complex power system networks accurately.· Investigate and troubleshoot stability and steady-state-related events, working closely with field personnel and control center operators.· Develop and implement stability control schemes, as well as steady-state control algorithms, to improve the overall dynamic and steady-state performance of the power system.· Stay updated with industry standards, emerging trends, and best practices related to power systems stability and steady-state analysis.· Participate in the testing and commissioning of new power system equipment and control systems to verify their stability and steady-state performance.· Prepare technical reports and documentation, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.Requirements:· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
