This client is currently looking for a dynamic and process-oriented senior high voltage development engineer to join the team that oversees the regional responsibilities of our project development pipeline. This position will require an individual that can competently manage competing priorities, navigate between early stage conceptual and more “refined” design, and adaptably demonstrate technical tasks with a strong focus on understanding grid integration requirements for renewables. The High Voltage Development Engineering team is looking to grow its core group of highly resourceful and regionally dedicated engineers as the company enters new markets and innovates on a large scale of energy production.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for early stage/conceptual pre-construction and construction phase design and engineering activities for Solar, Wind, and BESS collector high voltage substations and Generation Tie Lines (35kV to 500kV). • Relating to conceptual designs for preliminary permitting and estimating • Develop scope of work documents for regional renewable projects based on engineering standards and following utility requirements • Manage consultants of 30% design packages for collector substations and transmission facilities. • Raise possibility of completing in-house with design team. • De-risk project pipeline, including M&A portfolios, by performing technical due diligence and coordination with other internal departments. • Support cost estimating efforts for High Voltage facilities, including BOM review and substation expansions. • Establish and maintain relationships with High Voltage specialist consulting firms. • Review Substation EPC bid designs for compliance with interconnection agreement requirements, applicable reliability standards, following scope documents, and meeting company standards etc. • Provide design review and advise on any issues that appear technically incorrect or inconsistent with project documentation and contractual exhibits. • Direct coordination with interconnection providers (CAISO, PJM, NYISO, MISO, ERCOT, WECC, SERC, NEISO) to design collector substations and account for new switchyards per Transmission Provider requirements. • Growth opportunity for leadership role within the engineering team. • Work with a project team including real estate, permitting, interconnection, legal, finance, PV Development engineering, pre-construction and construction. • Travel and field work 25%.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the execution of the SCADA process on a variety of utility-scale and distributed generation (DG) renewable projects, including solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid power plants. Working closely with various SCADA vendors, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and internal teams, you will ensure compliance with grid integration and operational requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager to manage a team and participate in the technical engineering aspects of SCADA design and integration.Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Manage a team of SCADA Project Engineers: Oversee and provide technical supervision for the implementation of SCADA on multiple utility-scale renewable projects involving different technologies and architectures (solar, wind, BESS, hybrid, etc.). Project management: Maintain project awareness, mitigate risks, and assist in resolving technical and contractual challenges to ensure timely completion of the SCADA Scope of Work (SOW). Development of SCADA standards: Contribute to the development and maintenance of SCADA execution standards, including updating the SCADA SOW for submission with Request for Proposals (RFPs) to bidding EPCs. Standardization and process improvement: Establish standards and processes to ensure consistent execution of SCADA across multiple teams of SCADA Project Engineers. Team management: Effectively manage the SCADA Execution Project Engineering team, ensuring appropriate staffing levels for current and upcoming projects. Collaborate with the SCADA Development Engineer to assign projects to the suitable SCADA Project Engineers. Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Interconnection, Development, Array Engineering, and High Voltage Engineering, to provide SCADA expertise and advice in advancing projects through different lifecycle stages. Lessons Learned and continuous improvement: Participate in Lessons Learned discussions and incorporate feedback into future SCADA SOW documents and RFPs to address scope gaps and enhance project execution. While not directly involved in individual projects, you will engage in the following activities with SCADA vendors, integrators, EPCs, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and internal teams: Review internal exhibits and prepare Scopes of Work (SOW) for SCADA bids, clearly delineating responsibilities and identifying scope gaps.Review and approve proposals.Collaborate with Telecoms, Information, and Operational Technology teams to ensure appropriate equipment selection, project networking, and reliable connectivity.Collaborate with HV/Substation engineering and management teams to ensure proper substation SCADA and Meter Integration, including the development of conceptual meter schemes for revenue and control purposes.Collaborate with Array Engineering and management teams to ensure effective SCADA integration for BESS, inverters, trackers, meteorological sensors, and other relevant components.Review and approve IFA, IFP, IFC, and As-Built SCADA Design packages, encompassing bills of material (BOM) and SCADA system designs, device and network spreadsheets, block and network diagrams.Create and review point lists in collaboration with SCADA vendors, utilities/ISOs/PPAs, equipment manufacturers, and other subsystem integrators.Develop and review Power Plant Controller (PPC) control logic narratives and schemes to ensure compliance with grid integration and operational requirements, encompassing controls for MW Curtailment and Charge/Discharge schemes for BESS, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), Frequency Response, Substation Controls, PV-BESS Hybrid controls, PV Tracker Controls, and various other subsystems.
