Job Description
The contract CAD Technician provides document management support for Substation Engineering. Under the guidance of the Document Manager, the contract CAD Technician assists the Engineering Analysts by revising existing drawings from as-built field corrections and, after training, by updating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages.
Documents include internal drawings, external vendor drawings and supporting documents.
After additional training, the position will assist the Engineering Tech to liaison between engineering and field personnel who construct or maintain company facilities and to: ·Create and publish new Issued for Construction drawing packages ,·Gather technical information and up-to-date drawings for projects ,·Create new 3D material coded parts for electrical substation models,·Use the Autodesk Vault 3D parts library to create 3D substation models ,·Generate drawings based on one-line and substation standards drawings. Travel is not required, however, optional field visits are available as a training opportunity

A Master's or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering plus 3 or more years of relevant experience is also acceptable. The candidate should be proficient in specifying all types of HV and MV equipment used in substations and have expertise in AutoCAD.Excellent communication skills are a must as the candidate will be responsible for collaborating with clients, subconsultants, and subcontractors. Additionally, the candidate will be required to develop 3D layouts for HVDC and FACTS substation projects, including electromechanical design, development of general arrangement, layout and elevation drawings considering electrical and mechanical parameters of the project.Other duties include performing cable ampacity, grounding, lightning, illumination, and station auxiliary load calculations, creating equipment specifications and detailed bill of materials, and developing 3D layouts for AIS, GIS and FACTS devices. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that engineering deliverables meet schedule dates and should inform the Project Manager of possible delays or risks in the project design.The ideal candidate should be willing to travel locally and internationally to attend customer meetings and project sites, with an estimated travel time of 20%.
