Job Description

  • Hybrid work options available.
  • Lead teams in developing large-scale projects, including highways, tunnels, mass transit, and aviation engineering designs of moderate to high complexity, to meet client requirements.
  • Sign and seal engineering designs as necessary.
  • Review draft designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and approve completed designs.
  • Ensure adherence to firm policies and practices for all designs.
  • Conduct site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
  • Update design requirements as needed.
  • Inspect new construction and existing transportation structures as required.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals for current and potential clients.
  • Review draft proposals for compliance with industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
  • Meet with current and potential clients to review their design needs.
  • Attend conferences and symposia with applicable sales staff to increase visibility of the firm's products and services.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external clients and industry contacts.
  • Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide project updates to management.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Mentor junior staff to support their professional growth within the firm.
  • May supervise junior engineers on project work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license is required.
  • A minimum of 12 years of related experience is required.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be necessary for specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position. The frequency of travel will depend on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certification/License Requirements

  • Professional Engineer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Production level proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and MDOT OpenRoads Designer (ORD) Connect Edition.
  • Experienced in or have a good understanding of the Transportation Management Plan (TMP) based on the MDOT Workzone Safety and Mobility Manual.
  • Experience in Hydraulic Analysis and modeling for Bridges and Culverts, and Scour Analysis.
  • Experience in Drainage Study, Storm Sewer Design and Stormwater, and Best Management Practices (BMP's).
