Fraudulent emails: how to recognise and report

snip image

Spencer Ogden has become aware that fraudsters have sent emails purporting to come from Spencer Ogden email account, informing clients that we have changed our bank details and requesting payments to be made to a new bank account. These emails do not come from Spencer Ogden and we can confirm that Spencer Ogden has not changed its bank details.

Spencer Ogden would like to advise its clients to remain vigilant. With any payment, there may be a risk posed by cyber fraud, specifically affecting email accounts and bank account details.

It is unlikely Spencer Ogden will need to notify of change of bank account details. If bank details do change, Spencer Ogden will notify such change via email with the bank details closed in a letter on company letterhead. Email will not be the sole notification method used and Spencer Ogden shall endeavour to inform its’ clients of the change by at least two separate notification methods.

If a client is in any doubt of the legitimacy of any received correspondence, they should verify the details directly with Spencer Ogden  by calling our Head Office.
