UK worker, Michael Primrose who was abducted near to the Matang-1 exploration well on Tuesday 11th June, has been released safely three days later.
Drilling operations at the Medco Energi site in Indonesia had been completed and the rig was being moved when the kidnapping took place. Primrose is a drilling expert with more than 30 years’ experience behind him, having worked for several oil and gas companies in the East Aceh area, namely PetroChina, Geo Enpro and Lundin Indonesia.
Primrose was released from his captives on Thursday near the Alur Kol Village, Rantau Selamat District in East Aceh.
This kind of incident highlights the risks that come with working on such sites across the world. Our Director of the Houston Office, Ed Ogden has spoken of how these risks can be balanced out for workers with access to benefits such as higher pay.
