Alstom announces $69m contract to build geothermal plant in Indonesia

12 Feb 2015

Alstom has announced it will build a 30MW geothermal power plant in Indonesia.

The French company will provide engineering, materials and construction in the $69 million contract.

The plant will be constructed in Karaha, in western Java, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.

Indonesia is estimated to have around 40% of the world’s geothermal potential, despite only producing a tiny fraction of its potential energy, placing itself far behind other countries, including the neighbouring Philippines.
