Alstom has won a $1.2 million award from the US Department of Energy to improve the resilience of the grid in Philadelphia.
The award will focus on the development of microgrid technology, and has been awarded in partnership with some of Philadelphia’s key councils and Water Department. Together, the companies will research and design a community microgrid system.
The project will focus on growth in distributed energy resources such as renewables, demand response and energy storage.
Alstom will provide an end-to-end Migrogrid Controller System which includes synchronisation, power quality management and system resiliency.
