Alstom has been awarded a contract worth €225 million to provide power generation equipment to a power plant in Iraq.
The Al-Anbar gas fired combined-cycle plant is situated in the Anbar province and will generate 1,642 MW of power once it is commissioned in 2016, making it one of the largest and most efficient combined-cycle power plants in the country.
The contract states Alstom will supply four efficient FT26 gas turbines, four heat recovery steam generators, two steam turbines and six air-cooled turbogenerators.
The power plant will add significantly to the Iraqi grid and adds to Alstom’s portfolio of projects in the region. Alstom is currently constructing the Al-Mansuriya gas fired power plant in the northeast of Baghdad and more recently signed the 740 MW Zubair contract ENI Iraq B.V.
