11 Aug 2011

French engineering group Alstom has secured two new contracts worth over RMB100m ($15.6m) for the retrofit and maintenance services at two power plants in China.

The company will retrofit a 600MW steam turbine at the Huaneng Shanghai Shidongkou Second Power Plant site to improve the turbine efficiency and reduce the plant coal consumption rate.

Alstom will conduct the retrofit work utilising the advanced capabilities of the Alstom Mobile Precision workshop.

Upon completion of this retrofit project, the efficiency of the low pressure turbine will be substantially increased to achieve a coal saving of 36,000 tons per year, the company said.

Under a separate contract, Alstom will provide advanced gas turbine blades and other associated spare parts for maintenance of a GT13E2 gas turbine which was manufactured by the company.
