Russia and Argentina have signed documents deepening their energy cooperation. The agreements will open a new stage in relations as well as increasing collaboration on gas and nuclear energy in Argentina.
The agreements follow Russia’s sanctions from the west over the Ukraine crisis, resulting in a drive to develop ties with South America.
Gazprom, Russia’s state-owned gas producer, has signed a memorandum on cooperation with Argentinian state oil company YPF. And Russia’s Rosatom has signed a similar deal for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the South American country.
