Azure Power has commissioned a 100MW solar power plant in Rajasthan, India.
The independent power producer has commissioned the plant under National Solar Mission Policy, and makes Azure Power the largest investor of solar power in the area once the projects are completed.
The company will supply power to Solar Energy Corporation of India for 25 years.
This project follows the Rajasthan government’s recent entering into an agreement with Sun Edison India and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services to build a solar park with a generation capacity of 5000MW.
India wants to raise its mix from renewables to 15% (up from the current 6%) and has revised its solar power generation target to 100,000MW by 2020.
