08 Nov 2016
Canada’s liberal government has announced it will invest CA$1.5 billion over the next five years that “will make Canada a world-leader in marine safety,” according to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The safety plan will form part of a strategy to protect oceans and create better response measure into how to clean up oil spills.

Canada has the longest coastline in the world and this new world-leading marine safety system plans to boost responsible shipping and protects Canada’s waters.

The Prime Minister hopes the plan will strengthen partnerships and assist in launching co-management practices with Indigenous communities, including building local emergency response capacity.
