Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) has announced the agreement with a Danish company and German company to develop a new power plant in George Town. The deal is related to the contract CUC won to supply extra future power for Grand Cayman.
The agreement for the project is with the consortium of Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S and MAN Diesel & Turbo SE.
The scope of the project includes the purchase and turnkey installation of two 18.5MW V48/60 medium-speed diesel generating units, one 2.7 MW steam turbine, and associated auxiliary equipment.
The contract is currently valued at US$55 million, but is estimated to run to US$85 million to complete.
