Carnarvon announce significant oil discovery in Western Australia

18 Aug 2014
Carnarvon Petroleum Ltd have announced their recent and significant oil discovery in the Phoenix South-1 well in Western Australia’s North West Shelf.

The discovery is being cited as one of the most significant developments in Australian oil and gas, following the Enfield discovery which opened up the Exmouth Basin almost 20 years ago.
Adrian Cook, Managing Director at Carnarvon has spoken out about the discovery saying, “A great deal of credit for this discovery also rests with Apache Energy who is the operator of the Phoenix South-1 well.”

Although it is too early at this stage to quantify the recoverable volumes of oil, the discovery at this well in WA-435-P has significant implications for the rest of the permit and the surrounding areas that Carnarvon holds material equity interest in.
