China approves two railway projects worth $11.8bn

12 Oct 2016

China’s top economic planning body announced it has approved two railway projects that will receive a total investment of $11.8 billion.

The projects will be located in China’s underdeveloped western regions in Guizhou Province, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The approval came as the government looks to boost infrastructure investment in needy areas to support faltering economic growth.
