State-owned companies, China National Offshore Oil Corp and China General Nuclear Power Corp. have teamed up to develop nuclear technology for use in sea-based oil fields. CGN is China’s largest nuclear power operator and has already received construction approval for the project from the government.
The reactor, labelled ACPR, will provide reliable power to assist the operational needs of many offshore oil and gas production platforms.
These innovative plans hope to answer Beijing’s proactive decision to improve the country’s corporate competitiveness in the oil and gas sector.
