Chipmaker Intel Corp plans to increase global Smart Grid presence

02 Oct 2013
Chipmaker Intel Corp has plans to grow its presence in the global smart grid market with its smart grid microprocessors. Their expansion comes after a jump in demand for energy-saving technologies.

Sales in these microprocessors has been projected to reach $5 billion by the end of the decade, and Intel have already made agreements with some European firms that will aid in integrating the microchip technology into European smart grid systems. These include France’s Alstom and Germany’s EON SE.
