Citigroup Inc. has vowed to source all the electricity needed to provide power for its global operations from renewable energy sources by 2020.
The investment banking group is expected to start using onsite power plants, sign power purchase agreements for more power consuming facilities such as data centres.
This initiative is closely aligned with the company’s mission to lower the environmental impact of its operations. It plans to further invest $100 billion in clean energy, infrastructure, and technology projects.
With a focus on innovation and efficiency, we continue to challenge ourselves to improve our facilities and operations around the world,” said Don Callahan, Citi’s head of operations and technology.
