Delphi Automotive has announced it will open a new factory in Morocco where it will make electricial distribution systems and have a R&D (research and development) centre.
“Delphi’s investment is huge, some seven projects including a plant and an R&D centre, but I can’t disclose the investment amount,”said Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Morrocco’s minister of industry.
The $280 million plant will allow the company to expand its supply base and more than double vehicle production capacity to 1 million units by 2023. At present, Delphi operates with three plants in Morocco, where it employs approximately 12,000 workers.
