Denmark's Oil & Gas licensing round receives record interest

21 Oct 2014
Denmark has received a record number of applications for oil and gas permits in its most recent licensing round, reaching 25 applications from 15 different companies.

This included Royal Dutch Shell and Hess, and the licenses will be awarded next year, with the next licensing round set to take place in 2016.

This interest confirms that oil companies are still confident that discoveries can be made in the region.

Denmark is one of the smallest of the producers in the North Sea, producing 175,000 barrels per day.
