The US government has announced a $25million funding opportunity to help protect the energy sector against cyber attacks.
The department of energy is currently seeking applications to conduct research and development to find advanced technology that will further improve cybersecurity.
This news follows several incidents where gas pipelines were shut down due to cyber attacks.
According to reports, the projects will aim to focus on areas such as the redesign of cyber-resilient architecture for oil and natural gas, communications and cloud-based technologies.
“Energy cybersecurity is a national priority that demands the next wave of advanced technologies to create more secure and resilient systems needed for America’s future prosperity, vitality, and energy independence,” said Secretary of energy, Rick Perry.
