22 Apr 2015

EDF Renewable Energy has inaugurated the 200MW Hereford wind farm in Texas, U.S.A., following its’ commercial operation launch at the end of 2014.

The facility is spread across 15,000 acres of land and is connected to the Competitive Renewable Energy Zone transmission infrastructure, which allows the rest of Texas access to long-term, clean, competitively priced energy from the western parts of the state.

The wind farm has 54 of General Electric’s 1.85Mw turbines and 50 V100 2.0MW turbines from Vestas.

The project is the fourth operating wind farm project for EDF in Texas, and has the capacity to power approximately 55,000 homes.
