First Solar to build Latin America's largest Solar project

First Solar, the largest photovoltaic panel maker in the US has applied to a build a PV plant in Chile.

The plant is set to be the largest solar project in Latin America, with a capacity of 370MW.

The plant in the northern Antofagasta region of Chile will need over an investment of over $820 million and once completed, will triple Chile’s installed solar capacity.

Stats show that over over 758MW of renewable energy generation is currently under construction in the Latin American country, with an additional 440MW generated from solar power.
