France set to increase defence spending in 2017

17 Nov 2016
The French government has increased the country’s defence budget by 1.8% by €600 million.

According to reports, the 2017 budget will now sit at €32.44 billion and the increase shows the government is respecting the 2014-19 multi-year budget law.

At present, 10 percent of the country’s defence budget is tied to a fleet of nuclear missile boats.  Analysts believe France is currently working on a new generation nuclear missile submarine, which could account for annual five billion euros.
