A five year contract has been awarded to Fugro Subsea Services by Sarawak Shell Berhad / Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd in Malaysia.
The contract covers the provision of underwater inspection, maintenance and repair services at their subsea infrastructure across Malaysia, with Fugro establishing a project office in Miri and a support facility in Labuan.
The contract is expected to have need for the majority of Fugro’s Asia Pacific subsea fleet, although this is ultimately dependent on the activity, which includes saturation and air diving activities, deepwater installation of trees/ subsea hardware and pipeline and platform inspection services.
The contract also includes two provisional permanently deployed remotely operated vehicle systems and operational personnel.
The contract is not a first for Fugro as the company has been providing safe, quality subsea services in Malaysia for many years.
The estimated total value of the contract is over $250 million and is in many ways a recognition of the service and experience Fugro has been delivering successfully in the region.
